I’m an artist with a passion for working with friends on seeing, hearing, experiencing history as we live it in the present, who we have become as a result of who we have been, and where we want to go with that.
Self-taught with a lot of help from friends, my primary mediums are installation and sculpture, foto-encaustic and documentary fotography.
I’m currently working almost entirely on canoes and their occupants as a way of coming to know my own roots on the Yaquina River and the roots of my community in this country; and in Mexico where I also live, my paintings are all about where body and spirit are indistinguishable.
2011:
-Invitation Home: canoes at Ozone Fine Arts above Latta’s Glassworks on Abbey Pier on the Newport Bayfront.
-The Giants: La Muda and El Nino Calicante, larger than life cloth figures, at La TelaraƱa sculpture center in Oaxaca.
-La Cicada: foto-documentation of the cycle of emergence of the cicada, Jardin Etnobotanico, Oaxaca.
-CANOE: talks and workshops with kids at Vancouver Academy of Arts and Academics.
