The foundation of Clean Slate is Gary Brooker on acoustic/electric guitar, harmonica, vocals, and foot pedal kick/shaker – with Vallorie Hodges on bass, vocals, and jingles. Sometimes joined in a mixed acoustic configuration by Gus Willimen on congas and saxophone, and Sandy Wieneke on the Afro-Peruvian box drum called the cajón.
In an electric configuration we are sometimes joined by Danny Norton or Bill Flood on drums. With a hot mix of old favorites and originals, we play indy rock/americana in a bluesy-ish, yet up tempo feel and a jazzy tilt. Clean Slate is a popular duo, trio or four piece that has played an extensive list of venues up and down the Oregon Coast, the Valley, and into Washington state.
Our forte is exquisite crystal clear fidelity AND the ability to flexibly fit the needs of the venue, moving from an acoustic background sound to a full electric party band. We play a huge range of music styles from the 60’s to current day and offer both covers and originals.
