I practice the Japanese art of fish printing, gyotaku, using acrylic paints, rice paper and the real fish or subject. Subjects include marine and freshwater fishes from Japan, the Amazon, and the 3 coastlines of the United States.
Though my educational background is in biology and fisheries science, this orientation provides me insight into how the live fish looks, behaves and interacts with its surrounding.
The original, framed art has been well received at such venues as the Bellevue Art Festival, Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts, Newport Seafood and Wine Festival, local restaurants, and the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
